During the Kai-seki meal, a Hassun tray is used for food from the mountain and from the sea. The guests serve themselves. This course in the Kai-seki meal is usually accompanied by a round of saké (rice wine) shared by the host and guests.
This particular tray is made of cedar, unlacquered and is new.
