Chasen
Whereas most teas outside of Japan are steeped or boiled, ceremonial Japanese tea is mixed as a powder with hot water, and then whisked. The chasen, or tea whisk, is made from a single piece of bamboo, usually by a very skilled craftsman.
There are many variations of the chasen including variations in the number of tines, color of the bamboo, length of the piece, color of the string that separates the tines and the craftsman who made it. Several of the more common varieties are offered here. If you need something different or special, please contact us.
