Hishaku

Hishaku

The hishaku water scoop for tea ceremony comes in several forms. The most common is one used during Furo season (summer). There are also specific types used during Ro season (winter) and higher level procedures. Sometimes people use the Furo style of hishaku year round.

The term hishaku is also used to refer to other types of water dippers used for tea ceremony, such as those used in the mizya (kitchen) and the roji (tea garden).
