Chashaku

Chashaku are tea scoops for matcha, ceremonial green tea. Chashaku are used to measure and scoop matcha from a variety of tea caddies into the chawan (tea bowl). As with many other Japanese items, chashaku are categorized into three degrees of formality: shin (formal); gyo (semi formal); so (informal). Shin chashaku have no node, and are usually made from selected woods, ivory of resin. Gyo are usually made from bamboo, and have a node at the rear end. So are the most common, are usually made of bamboo, and have a node in the middle.
