Mizusashi & Mizutsugi
A mizusashi (cold water container) is one of essential items used in the tea ceremony. It is used to hold fresh water to replenish the water heating in the iron kettle (Kama), and clean the chasen (bamboo whisk).
Mizusashi come in a great variety of shapes and materials. Pick one for a tea gathering that fits the theme or your personality.
The Mizitsugi is a cold water pitcher for refilling the mizusashi container at the very end of the ceremony. This is used when the mizusashi is going to remain in the tea room, such as when using a Tana or daisu. If the mizusashi is going to be removed before the guests leave the tea room, there is no need to refill it.
